Bunionette Surgery
Surgical correction of a bunion deformity to the outside of the foot (commonly known as "Bunionette") is not an uncommon procedure in Podiatry. You can see the final result on X-rays compared to the pre-operative films. There are a number of surgical approaches to correct a painful bunionette deformity. Dr. Donate will discuss them in detail with you and choose one that will be appropriate for your situation. Traditionally a period of 3-4 weeks of no weight bearing or heel weight bearing is mandated (depending on the procedure performed). This is followed by a period of 4-6 weeks in a walking boot with gradual to full weight bearing. Regular shoe gear and activities is usually achieved at 2-3 months after surgery.
