Flatfoot Surgery
Flat foot reconstruction is a very specialized procedure that requires significant commitment both from the patient as well as from the surgeon. There are many different options available for the surgical correction of this problem and has to be approached in a very systematic way. There are a number of ways flat feet can occur and each has a different surgical approach. A very long period of no weight bearing is mandated in order to achieve a higher success rate with this surgery. Typically it is expected that a period of 3-4 months of no weight bearing followed by another 2 months of gradual weight bearing in a walking boot is the post-operative regimen. Physical Therapy is often a necessity to help return the patient to full weight bearing and activities.
